| The Noble Eightfold Path is the way to the cessation of suffering. To understand the noble truths and investigate their truthfulness, Buddha recommended that a certain path be followed which consists of:
1. Right Viewpoint - Realizing the Four Noble Truths
2. Right Intention- Commitment to mental and ethical self improvement.
3. Right Speech - Speak in a non-hurtful manner so that you don't hurt others.
4. Right Actions - Avoid action that will cause harm.
5. Right Livelihood - One should earn their living in a peaceful way with minimal impact on other living things and the envorinment.
6. Right Effort - Putting forth effort to improve.
7. Right Mindfulness - Mental ability to see things for what they are with clear consciousness.
8. Right Meditation - State where one reaches enlightenment and the ego has disappeared. |
