Homemade Microwave Heating Pads

I would like to make my own microwaveable heating pad, and I found this site with loads of info on how to do it. The only problem is that I looked around and "Deer Corn" only comes in 50lb. bags! Does anyone on here make these? And if so, could I buy a few cups of corn from you? Or do you know a place to buy this type of corn in smaller bags?

In Martha Stewart living they say you can make them with "pie weights". Maybe you can buy those in smaller quantities?

Ohhhhhh! Good idea! I cannot get my feet warm today and I have a HUGE costco size bag of rice! I think I"ll make a heating pad and put it on my feet!

How long should I microwave it?

30 seconds to a minute, shake it up and 30 seconds longer until its warm enough. Definitely shake it around or you'll get burned )

The essay I found says the following about rice:

Corn is a larger grain than rice, wheat, or flax, so it can hold it's heat longer. Rice is also small, and can scorch if reheated before it's completely cooled, or it can scorch if it's heated for too long. Because it's a smaller grain, it doesn't stay warm for as long. Rice tends to develop a slightly rancid odor over time.

Which is why I wanted to get corn. But pie weights are brilliant!!! Martha ROCKS. Thanks so much
