Right now my main artform is fiber arts - specifically knitting. I was raised in a pretty artistic family, though, and have done a fair bit of painting, some sculpting (I like polymer clay, but I also loved traditional clay sculpting & throwing pottery. I wish I had a kiln.), drawing, paper mache art, and I do a bit of sewing, too. I am really interested in the current Japanese crafting trends. I have a book with little felt projects in it and when I get a bit of free time I'm going to be all over it! I would also LOVE to do quilting, but I have to sleep sometime... I never really considered myself to be an artist, but I find that I am constantly inspired and compelled to create.

I've always thought of myself primarily as an illustrator, but the past few years I've begun branching out in a lot of directions. I still draw and paint (ink/gouache on paper) but I have been using a lot of polymer clay lately and also working with embossed paper techniques. Murals are another fun thing I do and I'm planning a series of large-scale paintings, probably in acrylic. I dabble in sewing, tie-dye & batik. I've also recently become involved in performing arts. I started belly dancing for fitness in 2002and that has become a passion that has taken over most of my art, not to mention my time. I'm up to 4 classes a week and starting to perform in showcases. I'm also in a pirate themed rock band, I play electric violin (as well as a pirate can be expected to) and sing. We're about to record our 2nd CD, for which I've written 2 songs. I'll be singing those and 2 others on the album. This summer will be our second time playing at the Festival de Piratas in Portland, OR.
I make childrens clothes, I made car seat covers for my twins and several other babies in my family. I have also made stuffed bears and have tons of stuff to start making stuffed cats. I have quilted, but only by machine 2
I used to make curtains for my sisters clients (interior designer)
I wish I had more time to sew and wish my back didn't hurt so much when I do it.
I sew. My strengths are renaissance costumes (chemises, skirts, bodices~though I hate bodices, I can make them~) and formal dresses. For some reason, I am not real good with "everyday" clothing. My most recent pieces are dresses I have started for my girls.
This is my 4 year old's dress.
This is my 8 year old's chemise. (I haven't bought the skirt fabric yet.)
I paint. Nothing major, but it a huge stress reliever for me.
This is only the second set of paintings that I have done. This is my first for my little girls bedroom.
This is the painting that I am working on now. It's for my DD bedroom. I actually have 2 more to finish with 6 Sesame Street characters on each. I have no idea why I took on such a project. It is taking me forever. I paint a bit each day with the canvas on the changing table and an 18 month old climbing up my leg.
