![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Eating Solids at 8 Months My girl is 8 months old and still has hardly any interest in eating solids. We started out slowly with solids, but she just has no interest. I have wasted a lot of food trying to feed her. She would just rather have her milk. The doctor said she should be spoon feeding three times a day now , I barely get it down her once a day.Anyone else have a baby act like this? Do I just stop for a while and the try again? Should I just keep trying everyday? Will she drink from a bottle her whole life? Any suggestions? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | she wont drink from a bottle her whole life - i promise! What types of things are you trying to feed her? Noah wouldn't do any form of cereal. So we scraped that and moved to other things. He did great on pureed prunes, and chopped berries. And eventually he came around to things like pureed carrots and mashed broccoli.

| Guest | If she isn't showing any signs of being ready for table food then I wouldnt try to force it on her. She will eat when she is ready. I have never seen an adult sitting in a resteraunt with a bottle in hand ![]() Instead of creating "meals" for her, maybe just let her sit in her high chair while you are working in the kitchen with small finger foods--cheerios, etc. She will get curious and of course put them in her mouth. After awhile I would bet she will get interested in the spoon. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Great advice, allow her to get curious and then add a spoonful of something yummy on the high chair so she can experiment with dippy/smearing more likely a cherrio in the food. Everyone likes to experiment and eventually it all goes to the mouth |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah, don't force her. I figure if she's not eating it by 10 months to a year then I'd be concerned. Is she drinking milk or formula out of the bottle? I say this because she should only be getting so many ounces of milk a day, juice a day, and water a day, and if she's getting too many liquids (Especially milk) then it will make her full and she won't want to eat anything else. Kyan wouldn't eat any of that baby cereal out of a bowl or off the spoon. I didn't blame him, that shit smell horrible! We started him out with fruit and veggie baby food at first. He really liked the fruits and the sweet potatos the best (wonder why?) and then we just gradually stepped up to the step 2 foods which had more combinations of things and he loved them, especially the Gerber DHA combos like blueberry and oat and the breakfast meals from Beechnut like cinnamon something and ones with yogurt. Have you tried the YOBABY! yogurts? They have reall fruit puree in the bottom and some of the rice cereal in the yogurt. It counts as 1 1/2 servings of milk (I think) and Kyan would've eat that stuff continuously! You can go on their website and get coupons. Just some suggestions. |

She is a very curious girl, so maybe if I do it like this she will be more interested. I have given her rice and oatmeal cereal and a variety of fruits & veggies. Rice cereal was a no go. She tolerates the oatmeal okay if something is mixed in with it. But even then, just a couple spoonfuls and she is done. She fusses and wants the bottle.

For a while she was spitting the food at me, and then she started just pushing everything out of her mouth. At that point, I just stop trying to give it to her and go with the bottle. I have not tried any finger foods with her yet, I think I am going to experiment with that and see how she does. Maybe she will get more into it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ds wasn't interested in tasting stuff until 7 mo and didn't eat a ton of solids until 12 mos. He wasn't starving in the meantime, he had me. The doc didn't like it so I ignored her and stopped seeing her...I was not intersted in pushing food on him when he wasn't ready. Even when he did eat solids it was nowhere near the amount the doc wanted. I wouldn't be extremely concerned...keep offering stuff here and there, let her experiment if she wants to, if she's not interested then wait. Docs are not nutiritionists, as much as they like to think they are.
