Well ... you're welcome.

I honestly find it really hard to talk about it too, in part because there IS that kind of conflict ("they were just children!!!")... and I feel really strongly, personally, about our civil liberties --- but also in part because so many people have been unwilling to look at the "big picture" in terms of legal precedent and civil rights, and HUMAN rights. And I think what it comes down to is that the Man didn't have the legal right to take these children. No matter what we might feel or think or believe, I think it's important to consider that if we (America) want to start outlawing what the sect members do --- well, we need to make sure the ramifications legally are ones we're willing to agree with in our own families and our own lives. I sure as hell don't want the government to have the right to come in to my apartment with no warrant and take my kids away because there " might " be abuse going on somewhere in the apartment complex. Or because I'm raising them in an Evangelical Christian environment. Or because I wear a head covering. Or whatever. You know??

Again....you hit it right on!

I have had people voice their opinions on some of my religious beliefs/traditions as being tantamount to abuse. I don't want the police storming my nephew's bris (ceremonial circumcision) because it's considered mutilation or abuse.....

Even those photos.....they are disturbing to US to look at because by OUR standard it is disgusting and unacceptable. But to them, in the society and community they have, it is common and "normal" and acceptable. It's such a tough line to tight rope on and more complicated than my brain can handle.
