| Ritual of Completion Rituals of completion can be done alone, but are even more powerful when shared with friends. For several years a group of women in our community met weekly - and then monthly - to create rituals of healing. After a year we opened our solstice and equinox rituals to the community at large. We never knew who would come, only that they would bring an open heart and an intention to support others in healing. If you have such a group of friends, you might enjoy doing this practice with them the next time you meet. If not, consider starting such a group and meeting regularly to enjoy the special closeness that meditation, prayer and practice with friends can bring about.
For this ritual you will need a paper and pencil, a safe place to have a small fire, and a trowel or shovel. Begin your ritual with a centering meditation, and then think about the regret that you may have to free yourself from. Contemplate what actions, if any, are needed for resolution. Now write the regret, any action plan and whatever you learned from your mistake on the slip of paper. Set it on fire, and as it burns, dedicate your experience for the liberation of all beings. Take the ashes outside and bury them or scatter them to the wind. |
