I remember reading about this last summer. And, when I saw those exact flip flops at our local wal*mart, I was in shock! :eek I saw them, months after this poor girl started her painful bout from them. I was shocked that they were still selling them even though she contacted Walmart about her problem.

Now I'm all about the rubber rain boots I just got DS from Target. Made in China, of course. What can we do? Everything is made there because it's cheap, as they have no qualms about exploiting their own children, plus they have no health regulations or standards to bother with. Obviously from the subject of this thread, no one in charge on this country's end is going to admit to any liability if they can help it. How can we Americans wean ourselves off cheaply made goods of dubious quality if there are no alternatives that we can actually find AND afford?
