For one, he has small children and whether he has money now or not, he hasn't always had. He understands what is important to me as a parent with small children.
For two, how could I not be a fan of someone not in the mainstream white establishment?
For three, it's obvious he leans heavily on Michelle and respects her as an equal.

I read the clip Manyfeathers posted about him being a Lightworker. I believe he is and I asked my phsycic friend what she thought about that and she agrees.

That he knows what to say. He puts his attention on them. I doubt that we'll see any bolts of lightening from him during the debates. He's cool, calm and collected.
If his attention is on these wonderful - high on the emotional scale - words of hope and change and "yes we can" - then that is what he will create.
I love that he is the underdog.. and he still fights. I love that he is A fighter for the good of ALL the people, I love that he has had real life experiences and wants to fight for what is right... helping the low income ppl, the single parents, those with disabilities, those fighting over seas, for the earth, for our future. Oh, there is so much more I can say. He is the total package for a president.
Why do I feel so strongly?
Being a single mother for one. I get looked down upon because I get government assistance.. yet it isn't enough to live. I am a full time student and mother with bills to pay, children to take care of.. yet, not enough help. I am not saying I want to get more.. but I know of and see many women fighting to live with their children. Struggling to put food on the tables and clothes on their kids backs, Shelter over their heads, and trying to work their butts off so their kids futures will not be like it is today. I am one!!! I want my children to have many more opportunities than I did, to make better choices than I. I am doing all I can at home... but voting for one that knows what it is like to Really live, to really struggle, and things not be handed to them... and work their way to the top fighting for others like him... I'm all for it. I want my children to know that what they put their minds to, they can achieve it. As I am doing. I want my children to know those who have rose from poverty and never forgot those they loved and knew when they struggled.
I know I just rambled away.. but I am VERY passionate about Obama.. it's hard for my words to come out the same way I feel about him as being our new president.

Plus he truly seems sincere in his hope to make real changes in our government. He doesn't seem to be jaded by the evils of politics. Plus how nice will it be to have an intelligent person in office!!!
I may not be quite as passionate about him personally as some, but I do very much hope he becomes president and I do think he is something different than we have ever had. I think the reserve I have is that vision of him I keep seeing, but that may only mean that he truly gets something serious that happens (to look so sad or defeated as I see him), unlike the president we have now or McCain would.
I think he is intenlligent, has been around other countries enough to know that the US isn't the only country on the planet to be considered, and he knows that different cultures can still exist and should be respected. I am not sure on the Lightworker issue...guess I need to go read more in that thread if I can find it...and I think if he isn't elected we will be in serious trouble.
I get that he is shrewd and confident, but not so much that he would assume his is the only wya or that he was sent by God or something equally dangerous. I get that there is something we aren't seeing in him that may be negative...something darker than he shows...but I don't see lying really or some horrible agenda in him.
I think we need intelligent and world experience now, and McCain has definte agendas along with something being off about his thinking...seriously. I mean healthwise I think he has either arterial plaque or heart issues going on that radiate off him, and I think his intellect is/will be impaired and he will lose that confidence he seems to sort of have now.
Anyway, I think Obama is the one who needs to be leading us now, and I hope he is elected.

Mel, I'm glad you found your own open window and stepped through it.
I was on the fence until I saw him in person. It was amazing the energy in the auditorium. I was so choked up the whole time. I loved the way he and Michelle quietly talked before they were introduced and touched and smiled. You could see what a team they were. I was sooooo glad I got to see him speak in person. I can't listen to him talk and not feel this surge of emotion inside of me.
OMC.. you saw him?!!? You're so lucky!! I bet it could be emotional.. I was emotional and I only saw him on TV.
