I don't care about the birthing thing so much. I care about the anti-homosexual, abstinence only, gun-loving, oil woman part of it. Oh, and the lack of experience still. What does a VP do? Just getting her passport last year? A one-foot-in-the-grave candidate with a history of cancer as her only step to the presidency. I don't think so. Thank you McCain for galvanizing my enthusiasm. I am going to do everything I can to help Obama win now.

I agree with Scarlet on this one. I also suspect, and hope I'm wrong, that if Palin was a Dem we'd find a way to defend this choice. I don't agree with Palin's politics but I certainly think HRC put politics above her families' best interest for years and we're not bashing her for it. In fact, if the Dems had picked a woman with the same kind of experience as Palin I suspect there'd be lots of defending of the choice and excitement for the ticket. Why is it different because she's an arch conservative most of us don't personally agree with?
People...for even the most paltry of reasons, we should be proud that a woman has finally been nominated for this office. We don't have to vote for her or agree, but geez. Can't we be sort of admiring of what she's accomplished even as we dislike her politics?
Okay - should I be proud that a woman is being used as a pawn in the political game? I sure as hell don't want Hockey Mom to inherit the oval office, not after checking out some of her background. She is being used. Doesn't even compare to Hillary or any other women who has spent considerably more than 20 months in a substantial government position.
But Mayor of bunghole Alaska, population 6500 and governor of Alaska - bfd, Dallas has more population. Her husband and possibly herself, belong or belonged to a group that wanted Alaska to secede from the union!
What she does with her body and her children is her business, as long as she doesn't have one chained in the basement. IMO

No. And I'm not suggesting that. But...if the shoe were on the other side of the aisle, so to speak, I think we'd find a way to be proud even of someone with this kind of limited experience. That's all I'm saying.

I agree that she's the token woman. And there are those who think Obama is a token, too (not me). But people are still proud of him because he's still the first.

Agree. She's part of a radical church, her politics are reprehensible to me, and yet I'm saying...we'd find a way to make this all okay if she was in the other party. That's all I'm saying, and I'll stop saying it now.

Well, those would be the reasons I would never note for her or McCain, but I was trying to leave those out I figured those were the logical reasons and the birthing/childcare thing was more of a personal thing. Nice of you to list her lovely attributes though

I discovered I like sunlight and warmth much more than peeling old doors anyway, so I climbed out the window and reveled in my discovery. I will never sit behind a closed door again, no matter how comfortable my chair becomes. Me
Mel, I'm glad you found your own open window and stepped through it.
