We've used paper towel soaked in a light cleaning solution before. I'll need to look around and find the solution recipe.
My favorite for a long time (when we had a washer/dryer) was to just use a washcloth and warm water. Throw it in with the diapers and wash. Walmart has the big packs of washcloths for around $5.00. Mix up a small bottle of "wipe solution" to throw in the diaper bag with a wet bag while out.
I make them. I cut a paper towel roll in half and remove the center. Then I put it in a wipe solution. There are some recipes on this site. Sometimes I just use plain water.
I like using them. I used them with my boys and now with my daughter.

We used those warm wet cloths too since the girls broke out from the wipes. It was cheaper and better for them with no chemicals too

Mel, I'm glad you found your own open window and stepped through it.
I used a homemade wipe solution with thin flannel cloths. The solution was mostly water with a few drops of lavender e.o. (but there's some study where something like 3 boys had feminization of their private parts after using products with lavender, so you may want to use something different ) and a few quirts of chamomile extract, and a tbsp of baby oil (which you could probably use a different oil, like jojoba, which doesn't have the icky stuff that baby oil has).

i do. i like them soooooooo much better than bought wipes and MUCH cheaper too! cut a paper towel roll in half and put between 1 1/2 and 2 cups of HOT water with a tablespoon of baby shampoo and a tablespoon of baby oil in a container with a cover. put the half a paper towel roll in the solution with the cut side down, put on the cover, and turn upside down. once the solution soaks all the way through, take the cardboard center out of the paper towels and pull from up from the middle to dispense the wipes.

We just kept a ziploc of wet cloths handy and they got washed often so no worries on germs or sitting around...if they got cold in winter we just put some warm water on them.

Ok. Then we'll just stick to what we're doing.. lol. We use wash clothes with plain water from a squirt bottle. I assumed there was a better way but we've must have hit the jackpot. LOL
When Kyan gets a rash I just use a soft wash cloth. I thought about using flannel material or something different and just sew around the edges so it wouldn't fray too much but I haven't went that far with it yet. It just seems like I do towels every day or so anyways so why not just use washcloths and forget about the wipes? I do still use wipes when we're out and disposeable diapers though or when he is visiting someone because when he had reflux and we had to carry around wet clothes and blankets and crap it became a nightmare.
