Temperature spike while nursing?

Is it normal for your body temperature to spike up when nursing? I can be fine and then start nursing and be sweating like I just walked into the sun.

It could also be hormonal. I felt like I was getting night sweats sometimes but it was just my hormones.

Your hormones can do funky things. Some women get nauseated until their bodies get used to it (I did some with the girls) from the rush of oxytocin and all the other hormones released while nursing, and some get pain or tingles with their letdowns. If you don't feel bad besides sweating and have no pain or anything, I would say it would be hormones.

If you have a clogged pore though you should make sure you're not developing mastitis. My aunt had it and thought that she was getting the flu. The symptoms are :
Breast tenderness or warmth to the touch
General malaise or feeling ill
Swelling of the breast
Pain or a burning sensation continuously or while breast-feeding
Skin redness, often in a wedge-shaped pattern
Fever of 101 F (38.3 C) or greater

She eventually had to go to the ER to have it lanced because she let it go. They said it probably started as a plugged duct and got worse.

No I don't have any of those problems anymore. I just get really hot and start sweating. It's really annoying b/c I always need it much cooler than everyone else.

I got that way as well because I had two hot little bodies and their warm clothes on top of me too. Could that be part of it for you?

You aren't still having problems with that possible plugged duct, are you? Just making sure

No problems with the duct. I think the pillows and extra body heat add to it.

It did for me too. I remember getting all hot and sweaty too now that I think of it. Now they stand in front of me at my desk chair so no problem
