How is your lawn this summer? Do you water it or do you get enough rain in the summer to keep it looking okay? We don't....way too big and we're sure not using all that water for the yard. Ours is pretty brown with patches of green since we've had no rain in awhile, but I think in our area that is how the grass is anyway...sort of brownish in the summer and then perks up the rest of the year.

Mel, I'm glad you found your own open window and stepped through it.
LH, I was thinking today good thing we aren't trying to sell right now since the front is toasted pretty much. That makes such a difference for that curb appeal...too bad you have to water it for someone else to like, but it will be worth it in the long run I bet. Have you had any offers yet?
We need some rain too...it is super dry again.

How hot is it there? Here it is about 94 and blistering if I don't wait until the garden goes into shade to get out.

We've been watering the front so that as we eliminate weeds we can grow grass in the empty spots. But overall our grass is still pretty green - we've been getting a. lot. of rain lately though so it helps!

I used to drag that hose all over the yard. Then we had several years of water restrictions. This year - we've watered only when the blades of grass look crispy, like they are about to expire. It jumps back to life!
We have St. Augustine grass and love it.
And contrary to popular belief - we don't have any of the illegal stuff.
Water costs jumped 42% this month, so no, we aren't watering. And the grass is so dry it's being ground into dust when we step on it. It's beyond brown. It's literally down to dust in most places from the kids playing in the back. And it's 95 degrees and sweltering here today. But fortunately it's supposed to rain on and off for the next 4 days so maybe that will help. Grass doesn't really spring back from the "completely crushed into powder" phase though.

Oh justmama, that sucks it is crispy. Some of ours is too
I see people around her watering their yards and think they must have really high water bills. We do fill up a little pool for the girls sometimes when it's sweltering, and then we pour it out over the veggies.
