The one thing I miss the most about loved ones leaving is hearing their voices. A few years ago I taped my Grandfather telling my son his war stories and I'm so grateful I did this because it's a moment in time we will never get back since he has dimentia.

I really want to do this with some of my other relatives too because it's the one thing I miss and I can see their pictures but their voices I know I will miss.

What do you all think ?

We have tapes of my great grandma telling stories of her youth... the one I remember most is the story about a big Indian fellow (she was born in 1903) comming up to the house to get potatoes

And she remembers being scared, but that her father was helping them out because they had had a rough season.

i miss my mothers voice. i don't think there is a recording anywhere of her.

Several years ago I was visiting my grandma with some cousins and we came across an old tape of my grandfather preaching a sermon. At first we couldn't quite tell if it really was him, but then there was a certain word he said (can't remember what now) and at the same time we both yelled out that yes, it was him. It was such a great moment

I have no idea who has the tapes now. My grandma is passed so I'm not sure where they went, but I'd love to have one.

I miss my dad's hands. They were huge, always warm, comforting, aged from the first moment I knew him.

I agree with recordings of any type. You do forget what their voice sounds like after a while. I never really think about this since I can talk, sense and smell them but you are right hearing their exact voice is hard. I would do it.

Well it's too late for me to tape my parents but given the chance, I'll tape my boys, maybe make of me for them and one of DH in case he leaves me first. What a great idea!

voices. sometimes i just ache to hear my grandparents voices. every now and then i remember their voices clearly but they are slipping away.
