Yep - it's a whole nuther country alright! Texas is the only state that still has the power to secede from the Union, and they talk about it.

Frontier justice still rules out here, and we do 'bidness' not 'business'. Cattle and oil still reign supreme.

Oh well, it's where my feet are planted at the moment, but it's the longest I've ever lived anywhere.

Lots of beautiful country of every description and plenty of wildflowers - like me.

And - we have Austin!

I like Texas. San Antonio is where I met my hubby and we married. My firts son was also born in TX. Good times!!!

My dh has to go to Austin for work a lot (actually Round Rock) for Dell.

I used to live in San Antonio when my dad was in the Air Force

I'm in TX! Not North TX, though. I'm in southeast TX. Sigh. I've never even been to Austin (I need to go soon--but will a day visit do anything other than make me sad to be in Houston??).

I, too, have been in Houston longer than anywhere else. It's kinda sad.

Too much pollution in the big cities. Texas is a blatant polluter. More than some entire countries!! We're like fourth on the list worldwide.

I know! And living in a 'burb I contribute almost daily. Houston is the WORST city to be green in.

I'm able to WAH one day a week, and then I try to not drive much (or at all) on the weekends, but gah!

I try to plant stuff to attempt to offset my emissions. And I don't think I have enough money to purchase those emission credit thingies.

It's pretty clean over in Texarcana, or so I heard. But that was a couple of decades ago. Anyone in East Texas?

I was born in Houston. I now live about two hours from Houston out in the boonies - away from the pollution.

Are you sure you are away from the pollution? I mean, only 2 hours away! With traffic, you can drive for 2 hours and still be in Houston!
