![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | When your out in public how do you calm them Some children react to crowds, noises, vibrations and overall energy. Let's share some ideas of how to keep your child calm and not reacting negatively. I have one child that becomes fearful and will ask a million times for a hug. Now this to you may not sound to bad. But, when your grocery shopping he's responding to all the electric appliances and it makes him nervous. Body contact keeps him calm. He's 10 and it doesn't work well when trying to grocery shop. I now put him behind the cart pushing it so he's holding on to something and I will walk beside him placing my hand on his when not putting items in the cart. I then have another one who gets wild at times and may be spinning, dancing you name it. He's the one I have yet to figure out what to do. I carry sensory balls with me at all times, but he's now getting away from this so I'm looking for more ideas.

I take an extra large balloon, put in a funnel and fill with rice and another with beans. My kids have a blast making them. I have also used flour (great feeling but messy, suggest you do this one) and cornmeal. They are wonderful teachers gifts too. I have sets of them in my car, purse and at their school. But, they are too use to them now so I must think of something else. I did get Karl one of those harry looking balls for Christmas.
